Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) here has reaffirmed its support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) and expressed confidence that the division will receive greater attention from the leadership in the near future.PBS Pantai Manis chief, Johnny Mositun, said party members must persevere with the present situation and continue to support the BN leadership in the constituency as well as the party's top leadership.
In this respect, he said the division proposed that party President Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan remain as the party's supremo.
"After 21 years, we have reached maturity but this doesn't mean our struggle has ended," he said to launch the division's Wanita and Youth movements' annual general meeting (AGM), here, Sunday.
"We must continue to remain united in the BN. We must also be prepared for anything, including the election even though it is still three years away," he said.
At the same time, he said they should not be overzealous and complacent in celebrating past victories and instead work hard to ensure better results in the future.Mositun, who is also a PBS Supreme Council member, was confident that the BN leadership would not overlook PBS Pantai Manis and give it a bigger role since "we also contribute to the strength of the BN in the constituency".
He also advised members to be ready to support the Government's planning, especially development under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) to improve the people's socio-economy in the constituency.
He commended the party's divisional Youth and Wanita movements for successfully organising a blood donation campaign and a football competition in conjunction with the party's 21st anniversary.
Meanwhile, Mositun, when asked whether he intends to contest for the party's Youth movement chairman post in the coming PBS congress, said it is still too far away for him to think about it.
"But, I will consider if there is a need by the leadership," he said, adding he would not be able to stop members from making stance, including nominating him for the post.
Before the division's AGM started, Mositun led the delegates to a one-minute silence to pay respect to the late former Deputy Prime Minister Tun Ghaffar Baba, 81, who passed away early Sunday.
